MCP server
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, VS Code or Copilot Studio to Synced.
The same operations are available to AI assistants over the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Each exposed operation is a tool; the tool list is live, so an operation exposed today is a tool today.
Server URL
| Environment | URL |
|---|---|
| Production | https://api.syncedhq.com/mcp |
| Staging | https://staging-api.syncedhq.com/mcp |
Connecting
| Client | How |
|---|---|
| Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot in VS Code | Add the server URL. The client finds the OAuth server (RFC 9728), registers itself (RFC 7591) and sends you to sign in to Synced and approve. |
| OpenAI API and Agents SDK | Pass the server URL and an access token from /oauth/token. |
| Copilot Studio and Microsoft 365 Copilot | Manual OAuth 2.0 with a confidential app a Synced admin registers under Admin › Integrations › API clients: its client id and secret, the authorize and token URLs above, and scope synced.read synced.write offline_access. Paste the redirect URL Copilot Studio shows into the app's redirects. |
Tool names are the operation keys with dots replaced by underscores: bills.list_to_pay is the tool bills_list_to_pay.
Organisations
If you approved the connection for several organisations, every tool takes an organisation argument, limited to those, and synced_list_organisations lists them. The assistant is told to ask which one you mean rather than guess.
Interactive views
Some tools come with a small interactive view that Claude and ChatGPT draw in the conversation: the bills to pay by due date, a Profit and Loss with period comparisons, an account's transactions by supplier, the bank transactions still to reconcile. Views load nothing from outside and can only ask the client to call another tool on the same connection, with the same organisation and the same permissions.
Roles and scopes
Everything that applies to the REST API applies here: the token's scopes, the user's role in the organisation, and the audit log. A connection for one organisation lists only the tools the user's role may call.
