Email access is a trust flashpoint. Here's the honest picture, written plainly.
- Emails in the labels you connect (e.g. a shared accounts@ inbox, or your Finance label)
- Attachments that look like bills, receipts, or invoices (PDFs, images)
- The sender, subject, and body text needed to identify and extract document data
- Emails outside the labels you've connected
- Personal correspondence, even if it's in a connected inbox
- Anything before the date you connect — we don't backfill unless you ask

Common questions.
What Gmail permissions does Synced need?
Read access to the labels or threads you specify — nothing else. Send access is only requested if you enable drafted replies (e.g. asking a supplier for a missing invoice number). You can revoke access at any time from your Google account settings.
Does Synced read personal emails in my connected inbox?
No. Synced only processes emails in the labels you tell it to watch. Emails outside those labels are never accessed, even if they land in the same mailbox.
How do I pause scanning?
From the Synced dashboard, toggle the Gmail connection off. Scanning stops immediately. Nothing gets processed until you turn it back on.
How do I disconnect entirely?
One click in Synced to disconnect, plus you can revoke access from Google's security settings. Your previously-captured documents remain in Synced for your audit log; future emails aren't touched.
Does this work with Google Workspace shared mailboxes?
Yes. Domain-wide delegation is supported for shared-inbox setups — common for accounts payable and expense workflows.
